Our Beliefs
The Northside Church of Christ values the call of Jesus to make disciples of all nations (Matthew 28.20). We allow this value to be shaped by the example of the first church who made disciples first at home, then in their city, then in their region, then throughout the world (Acts 1.8).
Those values are formed by the following foundational beliefs:
Bible
We believe the Bible is the inspired, infallible revelation of God that provides the will of God for all humanity (Psalm 19.7-10; 2 Timothy 3.15-17; 2 Peter 1.19-21).
God
We believe in the eternal existence of one God revealed in three persons: God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit. We believe in the sovereign rule of God over all creation (Deuteronomy 6.4; Genesis 1.1-2; John 1.1-3; Daniel 4.25).
Jesus
We believe in Jesus, born of a virgin, the sinless Son of God who was sent at just the right time to redeem and rescue humanity from its sin by his death and resurrection (Matthew 1.18-25; 2 Corinthians 5.21; Romans 5.6-8; 1 Corinthians 15.3-8).
The Holy Spirit
We believe that God indwells believers through the Holy Spirit whose aim is to instill the character of Christ in God’s people through the giving of gifts (Acts 2.38; Galatians 5.22-23).
Sin
We believe that sin is a universal problem and that humanity is separated from God because of sin (Isaiah 59.1-2; Romans 3.23).
Salvation
We believe that the proper response to the saving work of Jesus is obedient faith. We believe that God forgives believers who confess their faith in Jesus and are baptized into him (Galatians 3.26-27; Romans 6.1-4; Acts 2.47).
Church
We believe that the church is the family of God and is called to gather every Sunday to worship, glorify and thank God for his blessings and care, to take the Lord’s Supper in memory of the Savior’s love, and to fellowship and encourage one another (Acts 2.42-47; 20.7; Colossians 3.12-14; 1 Peter 2.9).
Afterlife
We believe in the resurrection of both the saved and unsaved, the one to everlasting life in the presence of God and the other to everlasting separation from God (1 Corinthians 15.12-28; Matthew 25.31-46).
